Are there additional selection factors NOAA considers when the determining Hollings scholarship awards?

 

 

In determining final awards, the NOAA selection official reserves the right to select student candidates out of rank order based on program-specific objectives and to ensure distribution across academic disciplines, type of institution, and geographic location.

 

When will I be notified with a decision?

The deadline for receipt of applications is February 8, 2008.  Successful Hollings student scholarship applicants are notified by e-mail the first week of April.  Unsuccessful student scholarship applicants are notified by e-mail at the end of April.

 

Can I receive my scores and the review panel's comments?

Yes. An e-mail request may be submitted to studentscholarshipprograms@noaa.gov requesting the reviewers comments. The student scholarship team will respond to requests for comments within 60 days of the request and after the final selections have been made.

 

How many Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship recipients are selected?

Approximately, 100 Hollings Undergraduate scholars are awarded based on appropriated funds from Congress.

  • In 2005, 110 Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship scholars were selected.

  • In 2006, 101 Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship scholars were selected.

  • In 2007, 110 Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship scholars were selected.

 

Annually, NOAA receives how many Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship applications?

NOAA receives an average of 600 Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship applications each year.
